Departmental Profile

Information technology (IT) is the term often used to refer to all of computing. As an undergraduate degree program, it refers to the preparation of students to meet the computer technology needs of business, government, healthcare, schools, and other kinds of organizations. Information Technology includes all matters concerned with the furtherance of computer science and technology with the design, development, installation and implementation of information systems and applications. Information technology covers computing and its applications such as database, spreadsheet and word processing which helps to store, communicate and manipulate information.

The major employers of our students include famous Indian conglomerates like TCS, Citrix, Infosys, Amazon, Amdocs, Capgemini, Cognizant, Adobe etc.

The focus of the department is on holistic learning to help the students to make significant contributions at all levels and to meet the expectations of stakeholders. Department aims to provide the best Information Technology based solutions and value-added services. The department has many experienced faculties, apart from associated distinguished professionals from the industry and academia. The placement record of the department had always been impressive. The faculty members are highly motivated and devoted in delivering the highest quality professional education to students and attempt to excel in their research areas.

The department having all major industry standard computing labs includes Python, C/C++/Advance Java Programming lab, Graphics & Image Processing Lab, Open Source lab, Advance Programming lab, Linux lab, Computer Network lab, Web Technology lab, Software Engineering lab, Graphics, RDBMS Lab and Student Project Lab.

Course Offered

✓ Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.):It is an Under Graduate Programme offered by Information Technology department. Duration of this programme is 4 years. The intake of B. Tech is 30 seats.

Course Objective

✓ To form graduates that would have strong concepts about basic mathematics and engineering sciences and ability to use them in the field of computer science.

✓ To form graduates who establish themselves as proficient in solving real problems with the help of computer science knowledge, effective communication and problem solving skills.

✓ To impart the knowledge of theory and practices of CSE and its application in the modern research and industry trends to the students. Also train the students with good practical exposure by using latest software tools.

✓ To form graduates who would be able to develop professional skills that prepares them for immediate employment and for life-long learning in advanced areas of computer science and related fields.

✓ To form graduates that would have professional and ethical attitude, effective communication skills, teamwork skills, multidisciplinary and educational foundation that will help them to contribute in the field of industry, consultancy, government and academia.

Infrastructure Details

1. Computer Laboratories: The CSE department having eight fully air conditioned and well furnished labs. All labs having branded PC with minimum i3 Processor, 4 GB RAM, LAN connection with Internet facility. All labs are connected with server to provide modern teaching and learning environment and fast access to the Internet. Fire safety equipments are available. All labs are also equipped with sufficient numbers of Printers and Scanners. The names of labs are:

2. Departmental Library: Department have library other then Central Library. The departmental library having more than 200 reference and text book, which is easily accessible by the staff and students. One faculty member is assigned as Incharge of departmental library to keep library in proper shape.
